Q
How much water does my lawn need?
A Minnesoata lawn needs about one inch of water per week.  In the Twin Cities metro area, the average rainfall is four inches per month during June, July and August.

Q
When is the best time to de-thatch?
A de-thatch is needed when your lawn is matted down with a lot of dried, brown grass.  In Minnesota, it’s best to de-thatch in the spring just prior to green grass.

Q
When is the best time of the year to prune?
Light tree and plant pruning can be done at any time of the year.  If major tree pruning is needed to compensate for structural defects or other reasons, fall or winter is usually better.  In some cases, pruning is also tree specific.

Q
What is the right mowing height?
The recommended height is about 3 inches.  With proper height and alternating trimming patterns, your lawn will be healthier which allows for shading, fights against weed growth and protects the grass against insect damages.

Q
When is the best time to aerate?
Aeration loosens the soil to improve the flow of air, water, and fertilization to grass roots.  In Minnesota, it’s best to aerate during the growing season between August and September.

Q
How much will it cost to hire GreenLoon Lawn Care?
This all depends on the services you desire.  For a free no-obligation estimate, please give us a call at 763-202-3213, Email us info@greenloonlawncare.com, or complete the Contact Us form on our website.

Q
Will great landscaping increase my property value?
Attractive lawn and landscapes add curb appeal and welcoming aesthetics. A well-landscaped property can increase a property’s value by over 10%!

Q
What is causing the trails in my lawn after spring snowmelt?
The trails are due to voles eating the grass stems under the snow.  Usually, a light raking will allow the grass to recover but in extreme cases you may need to contact a pest control company.

Q
Why should I have mulch on my property?
Mulch keeps weeds in check, retains moisture in the soil, and adds organic matter as it decays.  For shrubs and ornamental trees, a mulch base of 3″-4″ is recommended.
